Hi All,



We are seeing lot of ITM defunct process on solaris 9 servers (
sometimes around 300 ITM defunct process ) this is making server not
responding ( very very slow )



Any one came across this problem ? can you share your experience.

The latest framework maintenance in the ITM 622 stream is ITM 622 FP2. The
next upcoming is ITM 622 FP3 - here is the place holder URL

IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.2.2 Fix Pack 3 (6.2.2-TIV-ITM-FP0003)

and a date is listed.

The most recent IF03 for the framework was ITM 621 IF03, maybe 15 months
ago.

However individual agents will often have LA fixes or IF fixes which in
general are available only by opening a PMR and getting approval.

In addition, some agents follow a different release numbering pattern. I
know one that is up to 7.1 and another where the latest is ITM 620 level.

I did see something vaguely similar related to the KDE Gateway usage, but
you didn't mention that. I saw another one connected with the watchdog
service, but you didn't mention what the defunct processes were...

We are seeing lot of ITM defunct process on solaris 9 servers (
sometimes around 300 ITM defunct process ) this is making server not
responding ( very very slow )

Any one came across this problem ? can you share your experience.

The latest framework maintenance in the ITM 622 stream is ITM 622 FP2.
The next upcoming is ITM 622 FP3 - here is the place holder URL

The most recent IF03 for the framework was ITM 621 IF03, maybe 15 months
ago.

However individual agents will often have LA fixes or IF fixes which in
general are available only by opening a PMR and getting approval.

In addition, some agents follow a different release numbering pattern. I
know one that is up to 7.1 and another where the latest is ITM 620
level.

I did see something vaguely similar related to the KDE Gateway usage,
but you didn't mention that. I saw another one connected with the
watchdog service, but you didn't mention what the defunct processes
were...

Thanks... that rings a very large bell for me.. Certain configurations,
typically non-DNS, trigger very slow cinfo time and that can really mess
things up.

See this technote for an explanation and a workaround...

cinfo on a Unix/Linux system runs very slow in a non-DNS environment

A fix has already been delivered in ITM 621 FP3 and will be published in a
couple weeks in ITM 622 FP3.
